For those of you who haven’t met me yet or seen me on twitter, my name is Annie and I am a second year uni student studying a Bachelor of Communications & Media and a Bachelor of Commerce at UOW. I currently live in Canberra but am planning on (finally) moving up to Wollongong at the end of March/beginning of April.
To be fair, I wasn’t planning on going to uni until the beginning of 2019 when my school was offering an excursion to the UOW campus for year 12’s only. My friends signed up and since I wanted a day off school I decided to go as well. By the time I got home that night I had decided that not only did I now want to go to university, but I wanted to go to UOW specifically. Because this wasn’t something I was considering until the year I graduated, my thoughts on uni were quite negative. I thought it was a waste of time unless you wanted to be a doctor, lawyer or another “traditional” profession of which I didn’t want to be and therefore saw no need for me to attend university. Obviously this opinion has changed.
I asked one of my friends who isn’t in uni what comes to mind when she hears the term “uni student” and she said “instantly I think of the typical American college experience that’s always in movies. Like, the football games and sororities. But I also think of ramen and frozen meals, a lot of people say they have ramen for dinner cause they’re on a tight budget”.
If you’ve made it this far, thank you. Don’t forget to subscribe to my blog and follow my social media’s, you know the drill (all links listed below). Have a lovely day and I’ll see you in the next one!
